On September 25th, our hockey player skated in his first college game, and made the most of the opportunity: 2 goals, 8 seconds apart, and almost had a hat trick, but came away with an assist, as @HPUIceHockey steamrolled Old Dominion 12-2. #prouddad #hockeydad

The drive today was shorter, but may have been more stressful. AL->GA (Atlanta metro, ugh)->SC (most of the highway under construction)->NC (where no one gets out of the left lane. Ever.)

But we made it, tried @Bojangles, & reunited with my bride, who flew in. Move-in tomorrow!

There’s a new episode of The Empowered Parent Podcast out, and we’re talking about open adoptions.

Today was spent on the road in four states, as I drive with our oldest to North Carolina where he starts as a freshman at High Point University on Monday. Leg #2 of the trip tomorrow, move-in on Saturday! @HighPointU

And then we became the helicopter parents and messed it all up.

Oh, but to again have the energy of an 11 year-old who just played three #lacrosse tournament games in the summer heat, had lunch, and is now off to play with neighborhood friends.

Meanwhile, I need a nap.

DFW 🚀 PHL with my sweet for an adoptive/foster parent retreat at a resort outside the city.

Please pray for my parents, who have kid duty while we’re gone.

#ProudDadAlert: “Captain Clutch” (moniker bestowed by his coaches) comes through with the game winner in the shootout in today’s contest. In a previous game this season against Frisco, he had the game winner in overtime.

Adoptive/foster/kinship parents: there are heavy orphan/abandonment/orphanage themes in #TheBatman. Heavy. If you have a kiddo wrestling with trauma from their own experiences in those areas, you need to see the film before letting them watch it.

Thematically—and honestly, cinematically, too—#TheBatman is the darkest Batman film yet. This is NOT a superhero film for kids. Do not take your 8 year-old to see this movie.
